Meet Saundra
Ever since I was a child, I have used my voice and sometimes mouth to create change, in the lives of individuals and communities. My volunteerism began at an early age and continues to this day as a perennial nonprofit board member. As community affairs director for 17 years at WABC-TV, I saw myself as the voice of the community and the voice of the station to the community at-large.
At this, the ‘autumn’ stage of my life, I have been called to use spoken word as a vehicle to speak out, educate and I hope, illuminate.
Speaking truth to power, for me, is like drinking water; it’s essential to my living. If I can use my voice and experience to support a leader or person in attaining their goals and organizations in fulfilling its mission, I will have met “success unexpectedly in common hours” (Thoreau).
